20+ Horror Films to Help You Ring in the New Year!

Hey Guys! Hey Internet!

Looking for the perfect horror movie to ring in the new year! Here are 20+ horror movies to help you ring in the new year.

My absolute favorite horror movie on this list is a toss-up between Holidays which features an anthology of different stories of horror through the holidays and New Year's Evil with its 80s flare and punk rockness!  There's something truly nostalgic about 80s horror movies and the level of creativity that went into the stories they created.

Check out the list below and let me know what is your favorite horror movie.

Carne the Taco Maker - Drawing Horror Movies - Horror Movie Review 2021 - Spoiler Free

Hey Guys, Hey Internet!

It's been a while since we've posted here - we've been watching a lot of horror movies, and we thought we'd draw/review horror movies starting with Carne: The Taco Maker in our new series, we're calling Friday n' Chill! Hoping to add more episodes in the future! (this is me trying to hold myself accountable).

This horror-comedy is probably hands down a favorite of mine. I won't lie to you, I've watched it a few times.

In case you haven't the slightest clue what the movie Carne: The Taco Maker is about it's about Don Taco and his famous family recipe which all the locals love. But little do they know beneath this man and his family recipe is a deep dark secret that he doesn't want getting out - his tacos are made from human flesh!

The movie itself is hilarious - I'm a sucker for a horror-comedy and Carne: The Taco maker honestly did not disappoint. I just wish they would have gone further into the story and legend of Don Taco's family's recipe and how they became cannibals serving meat tacos.

But that's what sequels are for, right?

This movie gets a 10/10 for me for creativity alone, as a Latino - it's always a pleasure to find a movie that's made by another Latino. This movie had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next and laughing at this comedy horror.

If you like the drawing we did of Don Taco, then definitely check out our YouTube channel where you can watch the time-lapse of this drawing, in the link below!

Have you seen the Latino Horror movie Carne: The Taco Maker? let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

If you're interested in watching Carne: The Taco Maker for yourself, you can actually find the full-length movie on Youtube for free on the Kings of Horror Youtube channel, along with other places where you find movies!

Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix - Drawing Book Covers - Horror book review 2021

Hey Guys! Hey Internet!

I've been really enjoying watching other creators painting over book covers with their own version I thought it might fun to join the craze. And tackle books I've recently read in the last few years that I've thoroughly enjoyed and you might as well.

The first one up is Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix (https://amzn.to/2OPFiG4). Think Ikea meets horror story. Let me just say, I will never think the same about Ikea-Esque stores again!

So, what's the book about?

So essentially, something strange is happening at the Orsk furniture superstore in Cleveland, Ohio. Every morning, employees arrive to find broken bookshelves, shattered items, and more. Sales are down, security cameras reveal nothing, and store managers are panicking.

To unravel the mystery, three employees "volunteer" to work a nine-hour dusk-till-dawn shift each with a reward in mind. Through the night, they patrol the empty showroom floor, investigate strange sights and sounds, and encounter horrors that defy their imagination.

Without giving away any spoilers! It's a traditional haunted house story in a thoroughly contemporary setting - and it was absolutely GREAT! This book was quite a page-turner. And I couldn't wait to read what happened next and did not disappoint.

I really enjoyed the premise behind this book, and I love how Grady Hendrix keeps you on your toes, and how nothing is ever what it seems. I'm a huge fan of the plot twists in his stories. I recently read The Southern's Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, that he came out with this just this past year. (https://amzn.to/2OJuYiZ) and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

If you're looking for a good horror book that keeps you on your toes from beginning to end with tons of twists check out, Horrorstör.

I give the book a rating of 3 out of 4 in the land horror! And as I already mentioned already I will NEVER see Ikea store's the same way again.

If you've read the book YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN & definitely feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments, I always love a good conversation about a book. Also, I'm super eager for his next book that's supposed to be coming out sometime in July called The Final Girl Support Group (https://amzn.to/3wdaqkd).

Until next time,  let me know what is a really great horror book that you've enjoyed recently and maybe we'll watch and draw it!

Drawing Guillermo De La Cruz aka Havery Guillen - What We Do in the Shadows

Hey Guys! Hey Internet!

I know we owe you guys some cryptids episodes, but tonight I wanted to talk about my love of Guillermo De La Cruz - so watch us draw Guillermo del la Cruz aka Harvey Guillen from What we do in the shadows!

I recently started painting with color, I purchased a gouache set of paints and have fallen hard for painting in color again.

Drawing Guillermo What We Do in the Shadows - Portraits of Stars We Love!

As an actor, he's phenomenal, and a total riot to follow on social media.

If you don't already, you should definitely check out What We Do in the Shadows and come back and let us know who your favorite character is from the tv series and or movie!

For me, while I love Taika Watiti's character, Guillermo has a soft spot in my heart and reminds me of the Latino kid who grew up loving Antonio Banderas in Interview with the Vampire and wanting to be just like him.

I hope you enjoyed watching this portrait come together and let me know who we should draw next from What We Do in the Shadows?

Hope you're doing awesome,

Alethea/Inkeater

Watch the timelapse down below and listen to us talk about our love of Guillermo!
